Vol.1 was first published in 1777 as 'Medical instructions towards the prevention and cure of chronic or slow diseases peculiar to women'; in 1781 a two volume edition of 'Medical instructions' was published with the addition of 'Practical observations on the child-bed fever' as Vol. 2.
Vol.2, which is entitled 'Practical observations on the child-bed fever', was first published separately in 1772.
